The Eagle and the Snake

Thurs 14 Oct – Wed 27 Oct

Sun in Libra, Scorpio (23rd); Mercury in Libra, Scorpio (21st); Venus in Scorpio retro; Mars in Scorpio

Up until around the 23rd Sun and Mercury are still in Libra balancing out all the water influence coming from the other primary planets. Libra helps to keep it a bit objective, while the emotions are swept like spring tides in the lagoon as it reaches the sea. At least we can still talk to each other while Libra has any sway. Traditionally teambuilding and socializing are favoured, but with Venus, the ruling planet of Libra, still going retrograde, the motivations may be more selfish or personal. The Ziggy Stardust look could try to rear its head as retro Venus brings back some Scorpionic seductive glam rock trend. Think twice about that alluring item, just because it’s on the sale rack. You may regret it when Venus goes forward.

Once Sun and Mercury move into Scorpio with Venus and Mars, its all either eagles wings or poison sting. Those are the two totem animals of Scorpio and they clearly indicate the potentials of this potent water sign. When the eagle shows herself she can facilitate soaring in consciousness to the greatest heights of realization, cognition and consciousness; the eagle soars higher than any other bird; closest to the heavens, flight carrier of Vishnu and emblem of Zeus. If your goal requires superhuman effort, penetrating investigative research or deep psychic insight, then the quadruple transit of Scorpio for a few days from the 23rd is your window of opportunity.

However, if the traditional Scorpion feature of the sign rears his tail, then get your anti-venom kit ready, for the words will spit, the claws will scratch and the sparks will fly. With deadly precision. One can even sting oneself, which is what happens when the deep passions overwhelm the intelligence and we find our freewill voluntarily sacrificed to addiction, STD, or abuse. Scorpio is about power and control, who is in power and who is in control. The power of life over death for example, as in the hands of a surgeon or gunman. The surgeon gains control, first of himself at university, and then masterfully over his patients, while the gunman lacks self-control but desires control over others and gains his power through the gun. Scorpio can produce both results. Mercury in Scorpio will definitely sharpen the tools and the words, and Mars, traditionally the ruler of Scorpio before Pluto was discovered in the 1930’s, in his own sign now will add power to the urges as it urges you to express your power. This could well be the time when you find out what or who you are passionate about, for better or worse. The energy levels may be high, as are the potentials for transformation, whether of something outworn, outgrown or outrageous. So take the opportunity to pack your punch where it can have the highest impact for all concerned.
